As a professional HTTP proxy IP service provider, PiaProxy understands the importance of working with law enforcement agencies. This guide is designed to help law enforcement agencies understand how to obtain the data and information they need from PiaProxy.

Where permitted by law, we accept record preservation requests from law enforcement agencies that may constitute relevant evidence in legal proceedings. We will temporarily preserve (but not disclose) relevant account records pending valid legal process service.

Authorized law enforcement and government agencies may submit valid legal production processes to [email protected], including but not limited to preservation requests, account freezes, letterhead memos, court orders, search warrants, and seizure orders. PiaProxy will only respond to requests from official law enforcement or government email domains.

Record requests must include the name, position, and direct contact information of the requesting official. Requests should meet the following requirements to expedite processing of your request:

Under applicable law, preservation requests should:

· Be signed by the person making the request;

· Contain a valid return official email address;

· Be submitted in a non-editable format on the law agency's official letterhead;

· All known user identifiers, including Pia profile user IDs, email addresses, and IP addresses.

· Provide details about what specific information is being requested (e.g., basic user information) and how it relates to the investigation;

· Note: Please make sure the information you seek is not publicly available (e.g., tweets are not protected). We are unable to process overly broad or vague requests.

· Include a valid official email address so we can contact you if we receive notice of legal process;

Requests for Pia Account Information

Pia will respond to valid legal process initiated in accordance with applicable law.

Requests for private information require a subpoena or court order

Non-public information about Pia users will not be disclosed to law enforcement except in response to proper legal process, such as a subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or in response to a valid emergency request as described below.

Record Generation

Unless otherwise agreed, we will provide records in electronic format (i.e., text files that can be opened with any word processing software such as Word, Excel).

We can provide the following types of records:

1. Account information: user name, email address, registration time, registration address, registration IP

2. Transaction records: order number, amount, payment method, payment time

3. Usage records: whitelisted IP, IP+port used, usage time, target URL visited

Expense Reimbursement

Where permitted by law, Pia may request reimbursement of any expenses related to information generated in accordance with legal procedures.

Emergency Disclosure Request

In emergency situations, we may disclose account information to law enforcement agencies in response to valid emergency disclosure requests.

Pia will evaluate these emergency disclosure requests on a case-by-case basis in accordance with relevant laws. If the information we receive gives us reason to believe that there is an emergency involving a danger of death or serious bodily injury to a person, we may provide necessary available information to prevent the occurrence of such harm.

How to Make an Emergency Disclosure Request

If there is an emergency situation involving a person in danger of death or serious bodily harm, and Pia may hold information necessary to prevent that situation, law enforcement officials may submit an emergency disclosure request at [email protected].

When requesting user account information, please include the following information:

· On the cover page, indicate that you are submitting an emergency disclosure request (must be written on official law enforcement stationery);

· The identity of the person in danger of death or serious bodily harm;

· The nature of the emergency (e.g., suicide report, terrorist attack, bomb threat);

· The Pia@username of the account that is needed to prevent the emergency;

· The specific information requested, and why the information is needed to prevent the emergency;

· The signature of the law enforcement official submitting the request;

· Any other information or context about the specific situation.
